Vodafone Automotive High Security System

The High Security System (HSS) is a programmable function for the 4822 Alarm System.

It is designed to add another layer of protection to your vehicle when disarming the alarm with the OEM vehicle keyless entry system.

What does the HSS do?

The High Security System protects for vehicle from a range of modern vehicle theft techniques including:

  • CAN Injection Attacks
  • Relay Attacks
  • Rollback Attacks
  • OBD Attacks
  • Key Cloning
  • Theft with Stolen Keys
ADR Cards
How does the HSS work?
When the vehicle is unlocked using the factory keyless system, the alarm remains armed but disables the perimetric inputs (doors and boot) along with the internal motion sensors for 30 seconds to allow for driver recognition.

If the owner is not recognised, then any of the usual alarm inputs will trigger a full alarm after the 30 second delay period has elapsed. The vehicle remains immobilised until HHS is disarmed.

Note: If the alarm is tampered with during this 30 seconds it will still generate a full alarm cycle.
Driver Recognition

There are 3 ways that the driver can be recognised:

HSS Light Mode

If the whole High Security System seems overkill then there is the option of HSS Light Mode.

This works in the same way, but excludes all alarm triggers apart from the ignition and the bonnet.

Personally I prefer the Light Mode as I often enter my vehicle to access tools from the back and don’t feel I need the full system

OBD Protection

The alarm can be programmed to use one of the Auxiliary outputs to protect the OBD port.

What does OBD Protect do?

ODB protect cuts the communication wires on the OBDII port. This prevents any communication on the port until the alarm and HSS system is disarmed.
