Old School Car GPS Tracker | 1998 J-Phone Inside

They don't make them like they used to!

This old school car GPS tracker is one of the coolest devices I’ve stumbled across.

Here is a full tear down of the system I did off camera which goes into more detail.

The kit weighed 2.7kg

I’m not sure if the AVL Systems sticker is original or something that got added by the installer. Either way I can’t find anything online about them.

The date inside the unit is 28/10/98.

A quick search for KFT Italy brings up this page.

I also tried KFT Marone which produced an Ebay result with the same module for sale.

Good luck selling a 25 year old GPS system for US $120.00

I can confirm that the unit had an immobiliser, as I was told the car would not start after it was removed.

This was picked up by my mate Brent who got the Toyota Prado running again.
