Regular readers may have noticed that the blog has been a bit quiet over the past year. That’s not for lack of activity, quite the opposite!
Most of my time has been poured into fixing up my new house and garage, both of which were in a pretty sorry state when I first moved in.
Car Security Workshop
When I first started this project, I joked that I’d have the house finished before Transmission Gully opened. Well, not only is the house done—but the garage is too. And yes, all completed before the long-promised road to Wellington!
The transformation speaks for itself. The garage is now a practical, comfortable space to work in, with plenty of room to open car doors fully—no more awkward shuffling around tight corners.
One of the biggest upgrades? The lighting. It’s been properly sorted, and the difference is night and day. Good lighting makes working on vehicles so much easier and safer—no more squinting in the shadows or using torches to hunt for the right wires.
2 Meter height limit
A garage door is never high enough! Mine is a fraction over 2 meters in height so can fit most standard-sized vans etc. For example, a Toyota Hiace will fit in fine, but not one with roof bars.
Pick up & Drop off service
If you are happy to drop your vehicle off with me then I can offer you a ride back home (if local) or to the train station.
Mobile installation still available
I still offer a mobile installation service throughout the Wellington region.
What Does My Relocation Mean?
Not much will change for existing customers, but I can now cover a wider area.
Now Servicing Levin
The good news: I’m now based closer to Levin and am happy to travel there for vehicle security installations. It’s actually faster to reach than some parts of Wellington these days – especially with Transmission Gully still incomplete and SH58 roadworks making Hutt travel increasingly slow.
Update 2025: State highway 58 is still not finished!
