Mitsubishi Triton Security Alarm System

Mitsubishi Car Alarms

Here I explain which Mitsubishi Triton security alarm I recommend and run through each generation explaining what security came as standard.

All models of the Triton lack an alarm so I suggest getting one to enhance the existing systems and add another layer of protection.

The Triton is also known as the Mitsubishi L200. The L200 name got dropped in New Zealand with the 4th generation model.

Factory security:

  • Transponder Immobiliser
  • Keyless Entry – Remote Key or Keyless Push to Start

All variants of generation 5 Triton lack an alarm system.

The Vodafone Automotive 4822 CAN-BUS upgrade alarm works with the factory keyless entry system.

It is suitable for all models including the push to start ignition keyless version.

Triton car alarm considerations

With the Triton being a popular trade vehicle many have a canopy with tools stored in the back. To protect the load area I recommend adding a PIR sensor to the alarm.

It’s also worth considering a remote double tap module to prevent the alarm from automatically re-arming, plus to control the canopy central locking if the ute has this fitted.

Gen 4 Mitsubishi Triton 2006-2015

Gen 4 Triton

Factory security:

  • Transponder Immobiliser
  • Keyless Entry – Remote Key

All variants of generation 4 Triton lack an alarm system.

The Vodafone Automotive AK4615 was a popular alarm for generation 4 Triton. This has now been discontinued but the Vodafone Automotive 4822 is now my recommendation.

The alarm has to be wired up for PLIP configuration, but still works flawlessly with the factory remote control.

Load area protection

A PIR sensor is a must have if you keep tools in the canopy,

Gen 3 Mitsubishi L200 1996-2006

Mitsubishi L200 security

Factory security:

  • None!

The Gen 3 L200 sold in NZ did not come with an immobiliser or keyless entry

Some models have central locking, the ones that done can be retro fitted.

Recommended security upgrades

Install an immobiliser as a minimum level of protection.

Any L200 alarm system will need to come with remote controls. I have plenty of options so contact me for details.

Gen 1 & Gen 2 L200

The are not many of these left on the road now. I can still offer security to these if you have one.

Wikipedia has a good page about the L200 covering each generation.
