Gen 4 Mitsubishi Pajero upgrade alarm

There are some jobs that I get a really good kick out of doing. As is normally the case, most of the installation is hidden so will never to get swooned over and admired.

I simply have to take a quiet satisfaction that it’s done to my standards as opposed to to what I often see from done elsewhere.

However when your customer notices the attention to detail on what is visible and appreciates the effort put in it make the job particularly sweet.

Today I had a 2014 Mitsubishi Pajero in for a Cobra AK4615 upgrade alarm. My customer had driven down from Auckland with his wife on his way down to the South Island for a holiday. He had booked the job some weeks ago after spending some time reading up about options on the website.

If your Pajero in New Zealand new, then it should have an existing keyless entry, transponder immobiliser, and a basic proximity alarm which honks the horn.

From about 2012 the top specification Exceed models include an alarm with a siren and ultrasonic internal movement sensors.

Pajero alarm details

If your Pajero does have ultrasonic sensors then these are easy to spot up in the roof console. You can refer to the photo to see what they look like.

If it does not have the sensors then there will be plastic plugs where the sensors go.

If you want to upgrade the alarm to include internal cabin protection then I can install an alarm with the sensors in the factory locations.

Earlier models do not have the same roof console, but ultrasonic sensors can still be installed on the A pillars.

Apart from the LED on the dash there is not much else to see. The engine bay remains unblemished as the siren is hidden. The is a factory bonnet switch built into the latch.

The Pajero also has twin horns so along with the siren which makes the alarm hideously loud.

2026 Update

The Cobra AK4615 has now been superseded by the Vodafone Automotive 4822. The new alarm now includes a built-in tilt sensor. The sensors and main functions of the alarm remain the same.

The upgrade alarm is wired up in PLIP configuration.

Remote mirror fold

Mirror fold comes as standard on the Pajero. You can fold them in with the factory remote by pressing the lock button 3 times.

If you don’t have a working Mitsubishi remote control then the optional 2 button padlock remote is a great option. I can make the mirrors fold in on the first press of the remote.
