Mitsubishi New Zealand finally has a new van for sale. The Express was released in 2020 and fills the hole that was left when the L300 finally went out of production in 2014.
Update 2023: The Mitsubishi Express stopped being sold here at the end of 2022. The Renault Trafic is still for sale.
A rebadged Renault Trafic

Renault Trafic security - what does it come with?
The Mitsubishi Express is a re-badged Gen 3 Renault Trafic which has been in production since 2014. This post is relevant for the Trafic too. I’ve also listed some other rebranded vans at the bottom of the page, all of which are the same when it comes to security options.
Both the Renault Trafic and Mitsubishi Express come with a factory transponder immobiliser and key-less-entry as standard.
Neither has an alarm system as standard, but there was a dealership fitted optional alarm made by Vodafone Automotive who supplied Mitsubishi/Renault directly. This had ultrasonic sensors in the cabin and a microwave sensor in the load area as well as a battery back-up[ siren.
These are still available but are over $1200.00 installed. If you want a more affordable option then I have a good solution.
Recommeded upgrade alarm for the Renault Trafic & Mitsubishi Express
The Vodafone Automotive 4822 Enhanced CAN-BUS upgrade alarm is my recommendation for the van as it works perfectly with the existing remote locking system.
It comes with a tilt sensor and ultrasonic cabin protection as standard and an optional PIR or microwave sensor can be added to offer extra protection to the load area.
The ultrasonic sensors are exactly the same as the ones that come with the Mitsubishi Express alarm system that the dealership sells.
Here are a couple of photos of the installation

The Renault Trafic was banged as the following:
- Mitushishi Express
- Nissan NV300
- Fiat Talento
- Vauxhall/Opel Vivaro
