Central Locking Upgrades

Does your car lack central locking? I can retrofit it for you.

Many Japanese cars from the 1990s came with basic central locking but no driver’s door actuator. This means the system only works when you turn the key in the door lock. In other words there is a sensor in the drivers door that you manually switch when you turn the key in the lock. This switch triggers a relay to lock or unlock the other doors.

By installing an additional actuator in the driver’s door, I can upgrade your car to work seamlessly with a modern remote locking system. making it more convenient and secure.

Central Locking Installation Cost?

Installing a central locking actuator typically costs about $100.00 per door. This is in addition to the price of the Keyless Entry System or Alarm.

Why I don't recommend retro fitted Passive Keyless Entry

Passive keyless entry systems are super convenient. Being able to walk up to your vehicle and have it unlock without even touching the remote is a nice-to-have. Whilst it is a great feature when factory fitted I don’t recommend retro fitted ones. Let me explain why.

Most factory systems manage vehicle battery drain well, even though they can make new cars vulnerable to modern vehicle theft methods. Generally, they only wake up the locking system when you touch the door handle, then the car looks for the proximity remote.

Aftermarket systems are not connected to the door handle so are always awake to look for the remote. This in turn puts an excessive drain on the vehicle battery. This results in a flat battery in a short time. Any convenience offered by the PKE is quickly forgotten about when your car won’t start!
