Cyclops 661 Alarm

Cyclops Car Alarms Wellington

The Cyclops 661 Alarm, or Cyclops 661-3 is a very basic alarm system from Dynamco. I comes with with a external immobiliser relay, shock sensor and 6 tone siren. It is the most affordable alarm in the Cyclops range and comes with two. 3 button remotes.

The remote layout is simply, with lock, unlock and boot/panic buttons

Fixed Code Remote

This remote control alarm is operated by multi code remote control. Entry point protection of doors, boot and bonnet with a shock sensor. Audible warning is achieved via a standard 115dB siren, visually via the vehicle indicators and via a dash mounted high intensity red LED. The system may provide keyless entry and a source of immobilisation.

The Dynamco website states the alarm is operated by a “multi code remote”. I find this a little bit misleading as it is a fixed code remote.

This means that if you capture the unlock code you can simply replay it anytime you like and disarm the alarm system

Being a fixed code alarm system does mean that adding other remote controls to it is easy.

If you have car with an existing transponder immobiliser and want keyless entry with some basic alarm functions then it could be a good option.

A 3 button flip key remote can be paired with the alarm, it can also house a transponder chip so is a tidy all in one remote solution.

A very basic alarm

The programming options for the alarm are very basic. Alarm arm/disarm chips can be turned on or off. (2 chirps lock, 1 chirp unlock).

The door open upon arming warning is instant upon arming. It can not be turned off or delayed. If the door input is wired up to the dome lamp fade then expect 3 chips on arming, even if the chirps have been turned off!

30 seconds rearming if door not opened (can not be turned off!)

Obsessive Rating: If you want a good central locking system it’s good. Plus you a very basic alarm then it’s OK.

Personally I would not worry about a central locking system being fixed code. I’d consider this a keyless entry system with some alarm functions.

If you need a more serious alarm system then it’s probably not the way to go, that said it’s how many people are going to replay your fixed code alarm signal?
