The Cobra AB3868 set a new bench mark for PLIP upgrade alarms when it was released. Despite being an old model it it still far better then most of the alternatives in New Zealand, even in 2016!
It’s a very versatile alarm that works with your factory remote control. The AB3868 is intelligent in that it learns the timing of the vehicles arm and disarm commands.
The AB3868 is rated as a Thatcham CAT 2 to 1 upgrade. In other words it is designed for vehicles with an existing transponder immobiliser and uses the existing factory remote to arm and disarm.
Like all Cobra alarms Ultrasonic Sensors come as standard,
As with all Cobra alarms, the AB3868 has a siren which is shrill, loud and attention grabbing. It can also be programmed for what ever volume you desire for the arm and disarm chirps, or set to silent.
The AB3868 is a compact alarm, this means all the electronics are contained within the siren. This makes the siren larger then others out there. It requires a large number of cable to be run into the cabin.
I can install these with the siren in the cabin in the and rig the horn to sound when needed.
