Cobra 8510 - Old technology that still works
This immobiliser is so old that Cobra have updated their logo twice since it first appeared and yet still it remains unchanged! (Plus a 2015 brand change to Vodafone Automotive).
The thing is, it just works. If it’s not broken don’t fix it. The 8510 is a very simple yet effective immobiliser that does what it is designed to do.

Metal Security Housed Immobiliser
The first thing that strikes you about the 8510 is it’s metal security case. It’s about a solid as any immobiliser system I’ve ever come across. You’re not going to get past it by simply flipping open up the case as you would with most of the systems for sale here in NZ.
On top of it being attack proof it is also small. It measures in at 10cm x 3cm x 4.5cm
The Immobiliser Installation page explains just how important an attack proof immobiliser housing is.
Cobra 8510 Touch Key Immobiliser
When the LED is flashing the immobiliser is armed. It Auto arms 60 seconds after turning the ignition off.
To disarm the immobiliser you have to press the touch key to the receiver pad which then gives you a 60 second window to put the key in the ignition and start the car.
Super simple and no batteries to worry about going flat.
If you are after an immobiliser that works with an alarm then I highly recommend the Cobra 8509.

Cobra touch keys
The 8510 comes with 2 touch keys as standard, but additional ones can be added. A total of 4 touch keys can work with the immobiliser. Just note that a working one is required to access programming.
