Hyundai Tucson Upgrade Alarm

The Hyundai Tucson comes with a factory transponder immobiliser, alarm system and keyless entry.

The Elite models also come with a proximity key and push to start button. The Hyundai Tucson alarm can easily be improved as the factory system only covers the doors, boot and bonnet and the horn honk is rather quite. To see what I mean have a look at the Hyundai iLoad (watch the video), which has the same alarm system.

If you are looking to improve on the factory alarm then I highly recommend the Cobra AK4615 CAN-BUS alarm. It gives you internal protection and a decent siren, as well as an optional tilt sensor.

Smart Tailgate

The Tucson has some cool features such as a Smart tailgate that opens if the smart key is in the proximity for more then 3 seconds when locked. The Cobra integrates flawlessly with it and disarms the alarm as the tailgate opens. It then auto re-arms when it is shut.

The Tucson has a factory bonnet switch, and the Cobra digital battery backup wireless siren can be hidden so the engine bay remains clean. All you’ll see after the install is the Ultrasonic sensors and LED over-ride switch.

Here are some photos of what you’ll see after the install:

The AK4615 also works with the previous generation Tucson (2009-2015) which is better known as the Hyundai iX35 here in New Zealand.
