The 8509 is a dual circuit immobiliser from Vodafone Automotive. It is designed as an optional add on for the current range of alarm systems. In other words it needs a Vodafone Automotive alarm to work with.
Compact, rugged and attack proof
To the best of my knowledge the 8509, and 8510 immobilisers are the only systems in NZ which have a true attack proof security housing.
The unit is completely sealed. There are no screws holding it together which can be undone to access the relays. As all the wires are black they can’t be identified and defeated.
Because it it really small it is a joy to install. It can be be easily hidden and buried in a hard to access location.
Another Layer Of Protection
Security is more effective in layers. As the immobiliser is separate to the alarm it’s another layer of protection. Even it the alarm is found and defeated the 8509 will still keep the vehicle immobilised. It will only disarm when it receives a message from the paired alarm to do so.
