The Vodafone Automotive 4822 CAN-BUS Upgrade Alarm offers 3 models to suit your budget and protection needs.
All versions integrate seamlessly with the vehicles existing keyless entry system using CAN-BUS. This allows you to use the alarm with the factory remote control. For vehicles where the required CAN-BUS mapping is unavailable the 4822 can be configurated as a PLIP Alarm.

The 4822 – Essential CAN-BUS Upgrade Alarm is a recommended addition to any vehicle where you wish to retain the existing remotes and add an alarm.
It’s got all the basics covered. Essential protection includes a tilt sensor as standard, along with door, boot and bonnet protection. Being a CAN-BUS alarm it integrates seamlessly with the vehicle’s existing keyless entry system.
Essential Intrusion Alert Protection
The 4822 – Essential CAN-BUS Upgrade Alarm will honk the car’s original horn for 30 seconds in synchronization with the hazard lights to warn of an intrusion alert.
Level Sensor

Tilt Sensor Included as standard
All versions of the Vodafone Automotive 4822 include a built-in level sensor. This is programmed when the alarm is installed.
When the alarm is first armed, it notes the angle that the vehicle is parked at.
The angle of detection can be adjusted at time of installation. I normally set it for 1.1°
The trigger angle can be programmed for either 0.9°, 1.1° or 1.3°
Accessory Harness

The accessory is required for some vehicle’s to make the alarm function. It is required for the following:
- PLIP Alarm Functionality
- Crank Immobiliser
- Additional Inputs and outputs
The accessory harness is an additional cost to the basic alarm. Pricing is explained at the end of the post.
Crank Immobiliser

Optional Starter Immobiliser
For cars that lack a factory immobiliser, or those that simply want an added layer of security, a crank immobiliser can be added to the 4822. – This option requires the accessory harness.
How the Crank Immobiliser works
LED - Control Panel
LED – Control Panel – With PIN Code Over-Ride
The LED Control Panel does much more than simply flash the LED warning light to show that the alarm is armed.
It has a built in button which allows you to quickly enter your emergency PIN code should you need to disarm the alarm. This is really handy if you lose your remote control, or the battery has gone flat .
All alarms come with a random pre-coded PIN number, but the number can be customised to one you’ll remember.
More details about the Vodafone Automotive PIN Code over-ride can be found here.
Features:
- Full CAN-BUS alarm

4822 - Enhanced CAN-BUS Upgrade Alarm

The Enhanced version of the 4822 CAN-BUS upgrade alarm includes all features that come with the Essential model, plus ultrasonic internal movement sensors along with a wireless digital battery back-up siren.

Ultrasonic Internal Movement Sensors
The 4822 – Enhanced CAN-BUS alarm has ultrasonic movement sensors to protect the cabin of the vehicle. There is the choice of A-pillar sensors or the new diffractive flush mount sensors.
The ones which are the most suitable for your vehicle will be selected and the sensitivity programmed to suit the vehicle cabin size. Both are available in grey or black to match the vehicle interior trim for that perfect factory look.
Control which zones are active
As shown in the video, the 4822 allows you to turn off the protection zones using the LED control panel.
Turn the ignition off and press the LED button within 5 seconds.
LED control panel flash numbers
- Ultrasonic sensors off
- Tilt sensor off (Includes any other sensors on connected to the main auxiliary input)
- All sensors off (Door, boot & bonnet still active)
5365 Wireless Battery Back-up Siren
The 5365 Siren is IPX5 rated so will handle water being sprayed at it from all direction.
The siren is a true digital battery back-up siren. That means it is smart enough to know if the alarm is armed or disarmed. That way it can be hidden, or placed in a hard to access location.
If the alarm is disarmed you can disconnect the battery and work on the vehicle without any issues.
It’s a siren that offers real protection against attack and water.
There is also the option of the Hard Wired 5375 siren. I tend to install the one that is the best fit for the vehicle.
Features:
- Full CAN-BUS alarm
- Horn honk & Hazard flash
- Built in Tilt Sensor
- LED Control panel
- Ultrasonic Internal Movement Sensors
- Digital Battery Siren (5365 or 5375)
- Optional Crank Immobiliser

4822 - Ultimate CAN-BUS Upgrade Alarm

The Ultimate version of the 4822 CAN-BUS upgrade alarm includes all features that come with the Enhanced model, with additional OBD Port protection and 2 ADR Cards.

What is an OBDII Port?
Why does the OBDII Port need protection?
In recent years OBD key programming tools have become much more affordable and are easy to purchase without any licences. These are now being used to perform an “All Keys Lost” command where a new Smart-key can simply be added to the vehicle. It can then be driven away.
How does OBD Port Protection Work?
The 4822 blocks the OBD Port as soon as the alarm is armed to prevent unauthorised access. Once disarmed the 4822 unlocks the port and allows diagnostic tools to work. There is no visible sign that the port is blocked so it’s a very effective layer of protection.
Automatic Driver Recognition
ADR Cards -Automatic Driver Recognition
ADR Cards add another layer of protection. Without the ADR card the vehicle will not start. Even if a key is cloned or stolen. The OBD Port remains blocked too.
The ADR card should be kept separate to the vehicle keys/remote. Once the ADR card is in range it will allow the vehicle to to start as per normal.
What happens if my ADR card stops working?
If you misplace your ADR card, or the battery is flat, then the alarm can be disarmed using the PIN Code Over-ride.
