According to News-talk-ZB 1 In 6 New Zealanders have experienced having their cars broken into.

The statistics compiled by the AA say that 1/3 of these were street parking incidents, 28 percent in a pubic car park and a further 23 percent were from vehicles parked in a driveway, or garage.

The interesting thing about the article was that only 17 percent of victims actually took some action by having an alarm installed after the event! I know that as Kiwi’s we’re fairly laid back but 83% of victims not being proactive would suggest that they either can’t afford an alarm or don’t consider alarms to be effective…
