Mystery car thefts (USA)

Had this video sent to me this morning so thought I’d share it (thanks Nick).

Anyone remember my remote cloning post back in October 2010?

Whilst I’m not saying that this is what is happening it’s a very easy way to bypass an alarm system!

I also noted that there was no evidence that the cars were being stolen, but simply broken into. This would suggest that the factory transponder immobilisers had not been compromised and the reason for opening the passenger side would be easy access to the glove box to look  for things to pilfer.

Any other suggestions?

I call bullshit. I see no evidence that the cars were really locked in the first place nor any response from the car that is characteristic of being unlocked by a remote control.

Haha, it does come across as sensationalist journalism that’s not been researched well. There’s been a lot of that going on lately!
