Bumble Bee gets a double snake combo

Talking car

Last week the following email landed in my inbox:

“hiya im looking for a talking car alarm. is this something you do”

The car was a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro which comes with a basic factory alarm and remote engine start.

It sounded like a challenge so I was really keen to find a cool way to make it happen.

It just landed on the boot and seemed appropriate

I arranged to to look at the car and suggested a Cobra AK4615 upgrade alarm paired up with a Viper 516U Voice module.

The Cobra offers that extra level of protection with a digital battery back-up siren and Ultrasonic Sensors which I painted black to match the interior trim.

But the main trick with the AK4615 is that it can be made to work with the remote engine start. The Ultrasonics can be wired up so that the sensitivity is turned down by 70% when the heater is turned on with the remote start. This helps avoid a false alarm an allowing the alarm to remain armed.

I’ll be the first to admit that this was one of the more challenging installs I’ve ever had to do, but I’m happy with the end result.

Here it is in action:
