How it all started…..
THE BATRAM
I was first introduced to the BATRAM in June 2008, when one of my mates asked if I could help him with an Audio install which was proving to be rather complicated for him. I turned up at the workshop to see this big monster which would later become known as the BATRAM.
This would be the second time that I’d worked on a Dodge Ram but it was clear from the beginning that this beast was going to be something special. I hadn’t yet met Carl (the vehicle’s owner) but was told that he was only interested in quality and that I should simply order and install whatever parts I needed to make the Audio system work and sound great, that done, Carl would pay the bill.
Now I normally specialise in Car security but given that I’d just started up on my own and was not yet established I was grateful for any work I could get. I had a good look at the truck and decided it needed a new amp so simply got on and ordered it. I thought it was unusual to do work for someone whom I had never met. There is normally the sales routine to go through but this was just a case of get it done and do it well. I was really rather intrigued about who the mysterious owner of the Big Black truck was!
The audio system took up a couple of evenings to install and on completion of the job I was told that Carl would be coming in to see what work I had done. I thought that this would simply be the end of another job but it turned out to be the start of one of the biggest installs of my life. With this in mind I decided that the BATRAM would make the perfect subject for my first blog. It has certainly been one of the most interesting vehicles I have ever worked on. In the following weeks I intend to document my involvement with Carl’s project. There have been some massive challenges and some crazy ideas that Carl has thrown me, most of which I would never have even considered if it was not for his belief that I was actually capable of doing them.
I’d like to dedicate this Blog to Carl who has not only been one of my best customers but is also a bloody good bloke who has been a joy to work with. I hope you’ll find it as interesting as I have, until then here’s a video that Carl has allowed me to use along with a link to his website.
